My Design POV

I love human centered design, here are the big beliefs I hold true in my process

Step Back, Think big Picture

Stop before you create a Swiss Army Knife

I believe design should exist to help people in ways that are useful, thoughtful, and ethical. That means staying focused on the core value of an idea rather than overloading it with features, distractions, or unnecessary complexity.

The best designs are the ones that remain clear, intentional, and centered on what truly helps.

If you want to build for people in need, you need to build for the business too

I believe that if we want thoughtful, inclusive, and ethical design to make it into the world, we have to know how to advocate for it in business terms.

I do not believe people should only be helped when there is a strategic or financial reason to do so, but that is often the reality of how decisions get made.

If we want to elevate groups that are often overlooked, we need to be able to make a case that resonates with the people in power. Reaching your audience, even when you do not share their motivations, is often part of turning good intentions into real impact.

Embrace new tools, reflect critically, and use them responsibly

I do not believe in catastrophizing about AI or treating it as the end of creative work when no one truly knows what the future will look like.

I think the best way we can steer the ship in the right direction isn't to refuse to use tools like Gen Ai, it is stay open to them, experiment with them, and find thoughtful ways to make them useful. By reflecting, we can avoid these tools from replacing judgment, ethics, or critical thinking. If we continue to look the other way and point the finger and scream "EVIL!" the designers who want to do good will be squeezed out, or forced into using a tool they now know nothing about.
